archive it!
What is ljArchive?
ljArchive is a tool for downloading, browsing, and analyzing journal entries and comments from LiveJournal (or LiveJournal clones). ljArchive is currently available for Windows, and may soon be coming to gtk/Linux. ljArchive allows you to do the following to your journal:- Download and navigate a synchronized, local archive of your journal.
-
Run custom plugins on your journal. ljArchive comes with the following plugins:
-
Entry Reader - reads your journal entries aloud using text-to-speech technology.
You may need an update from Microsoft.com to use this plugin. - Regressive Imagery Analysis - provides a psychological profile of your journal.
- Word Count - provides a list of the words used in your journal, and their frequency.
- Post Frequency - graphs the frequency of your posts over time.
- Comment Count - graphs the number of comments left by users in your journal, and also how many comments you've left them.
-
Entry Reader - reads your journal entries aloud using text-to-speech technology.
- View/export entries and comments using a completely customizable HTML template system. You can customize settings for templates and also build your own templates.
- Search through your journal for keywords, and browse through search results immediately.
- Export your journal into various formats, such as XML, HTML, PDF (in conjuction with LJBook), and MIDI (yes, MIDI!).
Caveats
Caveat 1: ljArchive is no longer supported directly by me. ljArchive is now maintained as a SourceForge project. If you download this software and encounter an error you think is a bug, please refer to the ljArchive LiveJournal community. Caveat 2: ljArchive runs by virtue of the .NET framework. If you don't know what the .NET framework is, chances are you don't have it. You can download the installer here, or visit the Windows Update web site.Downloads
ljArchive and its plugins are distributed under the zlib/libpng open source license. The license says you can use the software and the source in any way you want, but you must credit me if you use my source in your own work. Download ljArchive from SourceForge.Revisions

Because of some strange bug, I wasn’t able to sync my journal for almost two years! And now…. with version 0.9.7… IT WORKS AGAIN ! Woohoo! You guys rock! Awesome! Yeahh!! does a little dance This totally made my day/week/month. XD
It would be great if you looked into porting to GTK /Linux.
You could have chosen to write this as cross-platform from the start by not using the MS-only SDK ; that would have made the port easier :-).

there are communities I’d like to download that I don’t own—just for reference, etc. Is there any way to use this program to do that?
I would give my left arm to have this available for Mac OS X !
I’m looking forward for the Linux version. And I do hate .net, sorry.
I think your date is not working correct, the first comment 13234 days later… ;-)
I would love to use this. I hope you’ll consider making this usable for Macintosh OSX without windows, because until then I’m out of luck. I have a MicroSoft-free computer and like it that way.
Pity.
this is an interesting tool and yould be sometimes really usefull. sorry that you cannot support the project anymore. but hopefully sourceforge will keep it updated. greetings
Hi, what was the reason, that you transfered the Tool to SourceForge. I did this also in the past with a developed Software because of problems with german law. But your Tool should have the potential to earn some money and I see no problems till now?
