BOSTON TO FRANKFURT An Epic Haiku Series
by Erik Frey

Sign at Bahn Mi joint
Reads “CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS” Forlorn and hungry.

Banh Mi joint address: 88 E Broadway Mall
Stall 108 [Ed: Five syllables if you read the 0 as “zero”]

Nubile stewardess. Metal cart inching closer. I’ll have the chicken.

Street signs in German
Rhyme with David Hasselhoff: AUSGANG HAUPTBAHNHOF

Inept hostel clerk. Waiting, summer turns to fall. Sorry, we’re booked full!

Guy named Raphael. A writer from John Hopkins. Loses his cool there. [Ed: But I kept my cool.]

The writer and I. Lost in a sea of hotels. Find sleep. And pizza.
